Officials Training in Missoula

Montana Lacrosse Officials Association will be hosting training for NEW officials September 27th and 28th in conjunction with The University of Montana Men's Lacrosse Team's annual Fall Ball Tournament in Missoula.

We are welcoming any NEW officials to attend this event! There will be a 2 hour classroom session on Friday evening at 6:30pm, and then a field day Saturday where new officials will have the opportunity to shadow veteran officials during live high school scrimmages. There will be multiple games throughout the day so folks can work as many games as they want, and get comfortable on the field.

In order to participate, prospective officials will need to register with US Lacrosse for the 2020 season prior to the training. This can be done at https://www.uslacrosse.org/, or calling 410-235-6882. They will need to register as an official, not just a player or coach. This training will help a new official be well on their way to stepping on the field next spring. There will still be a test and some additional training videos to watch this winter, but those can be done on your own time.  Also, a complete guide to becoming an official is available at the following:  https://mtloa.com/become-an-official

The MLOA will be sending out final information on classroom location and field day next week. If you are interested in attending or know of others who are, please pass their information onto the MLOA head trainer. He can be contacted at  . Just let him know your contact information, lacrosse experience/exposure, or other officiating experience. There will be other new official trainings available this fall in the Bozeman area, but nothing is finalized yet. Thanks for your interest, and we look forward to welcoming you onto the field!

PS:  We are working on girls' game officials training too!  Stay tuned!

Thank you,

Kevin Terry
