ImPACT Testing

Over the past few years the medical and sport communities have become increasingly aware of the effect head trauma has on the adolescent brain.  Commonly known as a concussion, it's characterized by an impairment of the brain's normal function which can be caused by the shaking or jarring of the brain.  Not every bump or blow to the head will cause a concussion, however concern over our player's safety is the Scorpion Lacrosse Club's primary focus.  More can be read about concussions and symptoms here.
There are tools to determine if a player has a concussion.  Most medical professionals agree that a baseline ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) test is one of the best available.  This neuro cognitive tool is computer based and evaluates an individual's visual and verbal memory, processing speed and reaction time in a pre-concussion state and can be used for comparison purposes after players experience a type of head trauma.

Scorpion Lacrosse is strongly encouraging all players to consider investing 30 minutes to undergo a Baseline ImPACT Test.  Baseline testing is recommended every 2 years.  They do not need another ImPACT test if a baseline was performed recently.

ImPACT Testing Location and Scheduling TBD.
